John O’Groats hotel is transformed into street art canvas
John O’Groats dishevelled seafront hotel has been given a lick of paint by a team of street artists in one last hurrah for the landmark prior to its redevelopment.

It is the largest street art project in the Highlands and will see the crumbling 19th century façade transformed into a giant canvas by six artists - Fin Macrae, Alister MacInnes, Richie Cumming, Fraser Gray, Martin McGuiness and Mike Inglis.

The work forms part of ‘Transform’ weekend to be held this Saturday and Sunday in Britain’s most northerly town to highlight the regeneration work being undertaken there.

Macrae commented: “Are We There Yet?’ - the title of the artwork - is something we can all identify with. To us it says something about John O’Groats being both a destination and part of a journey, especially as its re-development begins.”

Work to redevelop the hotel will commence later in the year by its owners Heritage Great Britain and their partners Natural Retreats.
