BDP dedicates 50th anniversary cycle tour to Jo Yeates

BDP, are to dedicate a charity cycle ride between each of the studios UK offices celebrating the practices 50th anniversary to the memory of murdered architect Jo Yeates .The event will see four participants make the 45 mile trip between the firms Edinburgh and Glasgow studios, navigating the Forth & Clyde canals via the Falkirk Wheel.
From there they will join a 26 strong team making the 125 mile trip to BDPs Belfast offices.
The relay race, which involves 180 separate participants is set to conclude on May 25, 19 days and 1,500 miles after it began on May 6.
BDPs chairman Tony McGuirk, said: “A celebratory exhibition at the RIBA, London will open on 24th May, moving to the Cube Gallery, Manchester in October. The practice will be publishing a book entitled BDP. 61\11 Continuous Collective written by Hugh Pearman with contributions from Owen Hatherley and Lee Mallett.
“A film by director Camilla Robinson called Five Cities, Five Places, One Day will be released, a blog, BDP Placebook will cover 5 decades of BDP’s favourite buildings, a timeline will follow key events within the practice over its first half century, and a charity cycle ride in memory of Jo Yeates will tour BDP studios.”
