Developer chosen to advance £347m Gateshead homes plan

Evolution Gateshead, a consortium comprising of the Home Group and Galliford Try, has been selected by Gateshead Council to partner on plans to create around 2,400 new homes in the city – concluding a two and a half year search.The £347m scheme will see housing built on 19 separate plots around the city, including both greenfield and brownfield land, as part of a 20 year regeneration plan.
Some 70 hectares of land is encompassed by the plans, including a former rail freight depot, which will play host to the first phase of housing with construction scheduled to start early next year.
