Aberdeen students host web based architecture workshop
April 6 2011
“Build Our Nation,” a live online workshop organised by students at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, has concluded with production of a range of design solutions for a facility for women in the Congo. The one day event saw 80 students from the school collaborate online with students in architecture schools in Milan and Spain, via brainstorming sessions, live video conferences and an online discussion.
Several possible solutions evolved from the day long discussion, including a gated structure which encourages communal living whilst acting as a safe haven.
One group from each university will be selected to progress their reports, sharing their ideas on the project blog ahead of an international workshop to be held in June at the Politecnico of Milan.
The brief for the workshop was derived from the violence and abuse frequently directed toward women in the Congo
