Approval granted for mixed use Dalkeith development
February 22 2011
Midlothian Council has granted approval to a mixed use development on the site of a former Forrest Furnishings outlet at Thornybank, Dalkeith.Approval marks culmination of a six month period of community engagement from developers Mactaggart & Mickel following submission of their plans in August of last year.
Around 90 homes, a quarter of which will be affordable, are to be built on 10 acres of land, including a smattering of commercial business units and offices.
Approval is accompanied by several legal strings attached, including developer contributions toward local education provision and improvements to Dalkeith town centre.
A key consideration of the masterplan is improved cycle and pedestrian access for local children to access their school.
Construction work should start early next year.

Junk - another cauliflower layout of trashy New Urbanism, a cynical piece of box-ticking and a revolting graphic. Well done everyone - newsworthy!
