Paisley Gilmour Street refurb starts
February 12 2011
Network Rail is to put Paisley Gilmour Street Station baco on top form with commencement of a £9m re-roofing project.4,740sq/m of glazing will be erected across all the platforms of the B listed station between now and Christmas, with ‘minimal’ disruption to services promised.
The works have been necessitated by corrosion to the existing Victorian roof caused by water ingress and will complement a £170m scheme to upgrade track and signalling of between Gilmour Street and Shields Junction, Glasgow.
This will improve capacity on services between Glasgow, Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.
Paisley Gilmour Street is the fourth busiest railway station in Scotland.
