Nestle plant redevelopment given the go ahead
February 2 2011
A Miller Partnership masterplan for Nestle’s York factory has been given the go ahead from planners. In a unanimous decision the green light was accorded to the confectionary giant to redevelop part of its Haxby Road site with a mixture of homes, shops and offices.
These will predominantly take the form of new build interventions within the grounds of the existing factory estate but some historic individual buildings will also be retained for conversion.
The masterplan has been designed with connectivity between the site and the wider area in mind, accommodating easy access for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Once complete the scheme will comprise 166 homes, 46 flats, 26 student flats, 10,000sq/m of commercial space, 974sq/m of retail space, a community centre, gym, crèche and café.
