BAM Properties acquire prominent Glasgow development site
January 17 2011
BAM Properties is to resuscitate plans for a “landmark office led building” in Glasgow, after purchasing an existing 50,000sq/ft office building from Valad Property Group.Planning consent has already been obtained for a 250,000sq/ft development, designed by the Holmes Partnership, which BAM will now rework with the assistance of Cooper Cromar. A new planning application is expected to be filed as a priority.
Though detail remains sketchy BAM indicate that a “significant” retail element will be incorporated into the speculative scheme, which occupies a prominent junction opposite the city's Gallery of Modern Art.
Michael Smart, BAM Properties’ Development Director (Scotland & North England), said: 'we are delighted to have secured this superb site. It has great potential to create an outstanding major office and retail development in the heart of Glasgow city centre. This continues the company's long track record of large scale speculative development in Glasgow.”
