Abertay University launches Dundee simulation tool
Researchers at Abertay University in Dundee have developed modelling software to depict how the city could evolve to those with a stake in its future development.

Dubbed the Sustainable City Visualisation Tool the system is described as a prototype simulation and visualisation tool by its creators and is intended to engage the broader public outside the building professions with the planning process.

The tool has already been put through its paces on the V&A competition, where it incorporated the various vying schemes to give the public a flavour of what they might one day expect.

Capitalising on the city’s position of dominance in the games industry the software employs video game technology including a Wii controller and 3D glasses to navigate an artificial bird around the hypothetical city.
