Strathclyde student wins annual tussle with GSA

Scott Porter, a third year student at the University of Strathclyde’s Department of Architecture has won this year’s Holmes Award, an annual accolade doled out at the Glasgow Institute of Architects annual Student Awards.Porter picked up his prize at a ceremony held at The House for an Art Lover, picking up a cheque for £500 in the process.
The award recognises outstanding third year fork from students at both Strathclyde and the Glasgow School of Art.
Porter claimed the prize this year for two concept schemes, the remodelling of a former church into a film theatre in Edinburgh’s Cowgate and a steel framed housing project in Glasgow’s Merchant City.
Judge and Holmes partner Sandy McMillan lauded Porter’s “enthusiasm”, “thoughtful approach” and “clarity of expression” in making the award.
