Work commences on Glasgow Premier Inn
October 13 2010
Work has begun to convert St Andrew House, a high rise office block in Glasgow city centre, into a £27.5m hotel. Its conversion will see the sixties block transformed into a 210 bedroom Premier Inn when it opens in August 2012.
It will be the fourth Premier Inn in the city and follows hot on the heels of Grand Central and CitizenM.
Funded by Whitbread, a hotel and restaurant group, the refurbishment will see retail units refurbished in the podium with upper areas converted into a hotel reception and restaurant space.
Concrete cladding panels will be stripped from the 17 storey tower and replaced by a unitised curtain wall system during its revamp by Ryder Architects.
