October 11 2010
Edinburgh City Council has approved plans for a 48,000sq/ft office and library complex in the Craigmillar district. The £10m complex will house 350 council staff in addition to meeting facilities and a café.
It forms part of a wider £250m masterplan for the area which has seen rundown council housing demolished to make way for new homes, schools and a supermarket.
Spearheaded by PARC, an arms length council run company, the masterplan has been put together by architects Broadway Malyan.
Construction is scheduled to begin early in 2011 with completion slated for mid 2012.
