November 19 2004
Janice Kirkpatrick and Ross Hunter of Graven Images and Catherine Docherty, former director of The Lighthouse’s Sust initiative, have set up a new company, called Farm7. So-called because of its premises on an Ayrshire farm, Farm 7 will specialise in research and consultancy on design and creativity, and help organisations to improve their performance and competitiveness.Farm7 works at the strategic stage of projects, up to and including the design brief. Key areas of focus include Health, Workplace, Sustainability, Design Policy, and Creative Industries. The company’s first major projects are leading a multi-disciplinary research project on the impact of design on children and staff in children’s homes, in collaboration with Strathclyde University, and looking at a framework for the development of a design policy for Scotland, endorsed by The Lighthouse, Design Council and Institute of Directors.
