Simpson at Altrincham
November 19 2004
Ian Simpson Architects has been appointed by Trafford Borough Council, with preferred developers Nikal and David McLean, to design a mixed use scheme on Oakfield Road in Altrincham, that will include the UK’s first extreme sports centre. The £120 million plans will include a new international standard ice rink which will replace the town’s previous facility, Broadheath, which closed two years ago. Also included will be a climbing wall, surf wave and caving area, together with shops, an 85-bedroom hotel, office space, restaurants, apartments and two new public plazas.Read previous: Midland Hotel set to get support from the development agency
