November 19 2004
Manchester-based OMI Architects has been selected as the winner of the design competition for housing on the former Granville Mill site in Derker, Oldham. The competition was part of the Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder Project, one of nine Pathfinders across England.OMI was chosen from a shortlist of four that included Proctor and Matthews, Triangle Architects and Stephenson Bell. John Bird, Director of Regeneration for Oldham Council, said, “We chose OMI Architects because, on the whole, their proposals matched the requirements of the competition brief, which emphasised site layout, accommodated car parking, delivered an attractive street layout and created safer, more attractive places to live. In this context, OMI’s designs are a good starting point for this project.”
David McCall from OMI Architects, said, “We are pleased to be selected as winners of this competition and to be in a position to support the work of the Oldham Rochdale Pathfinder in developing modern new homes that meet the needs of Oldham residents.”
