DTR: UK to develop BBC site in Leeds
November 19 2004
Architects DTR:UK and Liverpool based Downing Developments have applied for planning permission for a major mixed use development on the former BBC studios on Woodhouse Lane in Leeds. The scheme will consist of student accommodation and leisure facilities within seven buildings. The site is bordered by three main roads and the inner city ring road. The former radio and studio buildings will be demolished, with the Broadcasting House and former Friends’ Meeting House retained and redeveloped within the site. A number of public courtyards and footpaths have been included, allowing the previously restricted area to be open public space. A decision on planning permission is expected in December.
