Auchenshuggle Bridge takes shape as M74 motors on

Europe’s largest mobile crane has been enlisted by Transport Scotland for the latest stage of construction on the M74 extension, Auchenshuggle Bridge.It will be the routes only crossing of the river Clyde and will link Cambuslang to Tradeston when the road completes next year.
The crane is needed to manoeuvre giant box girders into place across the river before a concrete basecourse can be laid for the roadway.
100 lorries were needed to transport the crane in sections to the site, it taking a week for the crane to be fully assembled.
Glasgow is currently playing host to the UK’s largest demolition machine.
