Gormley unveils Lothian’s shortest lived statue
June 2 2010
Turner Prize winning sculptor Antony Gormley’s latest sculpture has been erected by Had-Fab in Macmerry, East Lothian.Named ‘Expose’ its presence on the local skyline will be sadly fleeting as the 25m structure is dismantled and shipped in sections to the reclaimed shoreline of Lelystad, east of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Comprising 5,000 sections of steel assembled using 14,000 bolts to fashion the figure of a crouching man, Gormley hopes his steel totem will become an instant landmark in the low lying country
