Midland funding confirmed

The NWDA has announced that it will provide £4m of funding for Urban Splash’s redevelopment of the Midland Hotel in Morecambe, part of a masterplan to regenerate the central seafront area of the town. The scheme will see the Grade ll listed building restored to create a 46-bedroom hotel with a public café-bar, restaurant and bathhouse.It is estimated that the restored hotel will add in excess of £1.2 million a year to the local economy. It will also generate major employment opportunities for the local community, creating high quality hotel, catering and construction jobs. Geraldine Smith, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale, said: “The restoration of the Midland Hotel will be a catalyst for the regeneration of Morecambe. I am delighted that over £4 million of Government funding has been allocated to this project and I congratulate the NWDA and Urban Splash for working in partnership to bring this fantastic building back to life.”
