Tollcross pool expansion approved by planners
May 10 2010
A £19m upgrade of Tollcross Leisure Centre which would see a second 50m ‘warm up’ pool constructed, has been given the go ahead by planners ahead of likely approval by councillors. This will see an existing 10 lane pool expanded to 16 lanes whilst keeping most of the existing facility open to the public.
The pool is being designed to provide a strong legacy usage with both pools open to the public together with additional community facilities.
A low carbon footprint is stressed throughout the build which benefits from low energy systems and on site water recycling.
Work will start early next year on the project, ensuring full completion for 2013.
