Keppie bag Central Quay masterplan
Keppie have emerged victorious in a four way interview process to develop a masterplan for Glasgow’s Central Quay, an 11 acre business park immediately adjacent to the International Financial Services District.

Developer Goodman is pressing ahead with the next phase of expansion on the key site, which could potentially accommodate up to 500,000sq/ft of additional office space, a hotel and “a prominent corporate HQ on the Clyde waterfront.”

This will focus initially on refining the design and development concept in anticipation of a masterplan being submitted “at some point later this year.”

It supercedes a prior masterplan by Aukett Fitzroy Robinson with Keppie seeking to “Create a more urban feel to the scheme, with a greater density and a more varied spacial relationship between proposed buildings,” according to practice director Richard MacDonald.

Central to Keppie’s vision is a ‘hybrid podium’, thought to mean a landscaped podium deck with undercroft parking. This would allow for a walkway to serve as artery through the deep plan site, akin to Maxim.
