Scottish Civic Trust launch ‘My Place’ award

The Scottish Civic Trust have launched their My Place Awards to celebrate local design and conservationSupported by the Scottish Government the scheme invites people to nominate their favourite places and spaces to be judged by a panel of four industry experts. Supporting statements from building users and owners inform this decision.
Amongst an eclectic mix of entries thus far received is Blackburn House, West Lothian, dragged back from ruination by architects Simpson & Brown.
Also making the long list is a roof garden in New Lanark by landscape architect Douglas Coltart, a sensitive intervention atop a grade A listed building within Robert Owen’s model town.
The winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony in The Lighthouse, Glasgow on Monday 19 April 2010.
