A sign of the times in Basildon
March 30 2010
Basildon is hoping a touch of Hollywood glamour will rub off on the town with the erection of a white lettered sign on a key route into the Essex centre.Basildon District Council commissioned the £400k sign after receiving a grant from the Thames Gateway programme.
At a mere 5ft the British copycat is dwarfed by its American progenitor however, which looms at an impressive 30ft tall amidst the Hollywood hills.
It is intended that the sign will promote business parks along the A127 on the periphery of the town.
