John Pelan appointed as Scottish Civic Trust director

The Scottish Civic Trust has appointed John Pelan as its new director following the departure of incumbent Terry Levinthal in February.Based in the tobacco Merchants House in Glasgow’s Merchant City Pelan, formerly a director of communications at RIAS and director of John Pelan Associates, will assume responsibility for coordinating Doors Open Day and maintaining the Buildings at Risk Register on behalf of Historic Scotland.
These activities underpin the Trust’s wider remit of promoting respect and understanding for the built environment which has seen the recent launch of the My Place Award scheme.
Commenting on his appointment Pelan said: “The Scottish Civic Trust has a unique role to play in Scottish society, fostering understanding of the built environment and providing leadership in areas of historical and contemporary architecture as well as engaging with the wider public."
Pelan will assume his new role on April 1st.
