Govan public realm works poised for go ahead
A £600k project to improve public realm around Glasgow’s Govan subway station is expected to be approved tomorrow.

Strathclyde Passenger Transport and Glasgow City Council are seeking to pave the area with Caithness flagstones and granite whilst introducing mature trees, seating and public art.

Though superficial SPT harbour grander plans to remodel the 1970’s ticket office to provide a modern interchange with the neighbouring bus station.

A report commissioned by SPT identified “poor” public paths in the area and described street furniture as “dated” and “uncoordinated”.

Work could be completed by late summer. Image taken by Paul Robertson.
