Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway are to apply their experience in urban regeneration and social design to Inverness by showcasing the future of community living at the UK’s first ever eco-housing fair. The Hemingways have been appointed to design gardens and a children’s play area for Scotland’s Housing Expo by the Highland Housing Alliance.
It is hoped 300,000 people will visit the Expo in Inverness throughout August 2010 to experience the next generation of Scottish housing, incorporating sustainable technologies, shared surfaces and remote parking.
Wayne commented: “All of us involved in the Expo have a duty to leave a long term legacy of a great place to for the Inverness community .Gerardine and I have brought up our 4 children to be “free range kids”, we understand the value of well designed outdoor spaces and well thought out play
Scotland's Housing Expo is for people with an interest in housing and how they live. Sustainability, fresh ideas, future thinking, outstanding architecture and product design rolled into one fun Expo in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland. Unmissable!"
Hemingway is a member of the judging panel for the Carbuncle Awards 2010, with Inverness currently in the running for the fabled ‘Plook on the Plinth’ award. Expo organisers are hopeful that their summer plans will illustrate how Inverness’ future is stronger than its present.
