Page/Park land Theatre Royal revamp
February 16 2010
Page/Park has put in a winning performance in a competition to design a £10m upgrade of Glasgow’s Theatre Royal. An announcement is due next week but it is believed the practice have seen off short listed rivals including Caruso St John, Nord, Terry Pawson and Tim Ronalds.
Scottish Opera staged the contest which will require Page/Park to expand the existing 1,500 seat theatre across 360sq/m of adjacent land, together with accessibility improvements for the disabled.
This will increase public space at the front of the historic venue, behind an under construction citizenM hotel.
The project follows on from Page/Park’s work at Inverness’s Eden Court Theatre and is due to complete by 2014.
