Lochgelly leaves the past behind
February 15 2010
Regeneration is continuing apace in Lochgelly, described by the Observer as: “the last place in Britain people want to live”.Celebrating the tenth anniversary of a partnership between Ore Valley Housing Association, Fife HARCA and Dearle and Henderson Consultancy, the regeneration agencies are looking ahead to what the coming decade will bring.
In 2010 Lochgelly Business Centre will be completed. Occupying a prominent spot on Main Street it will offer low cost premises for start up businesses. Elsewhere a new phase of house building will see construction of terraced homes and flats, some specially adapted for autistic residents.
In addition to construction an environmental audit of the town has been undertaken in a bid to revamp open and green spaces.
Lochgelly has been designated as a Scottish Sustainable Community and will play host to a charette in March to promote development.
