Grampian Police mount blitz photography exhibition
January 29 2010
Grampian Police have dusted off some unseen photos from their achives illustrating a dramatic period in the North East’s history.Dating from 1943 the images depict the aftermath of a German bombing raid on Aberdeen, a miniature blitz which saw 129 bombs dropped killing 125 people and damaging numerous properties.
Thirty five pictures taken by officers attending the scene will be put on display by the Limousine Bull Artists Collective at the Deemouth Business Centre, Aberdeen from Sat Jan 10 to Sun Feb 14, excluding Mondays and Tuesdays.
They will be accompanied by contemporary photographs depicting the sites as they exist today alongside audio accounts of the attack, recounted by the survivors themselves.

Bedford Place. Check back later this afternoon, I'm hoping to source the present day scene.

According to the 96 year old who used to live upstairs from us (sadly dead now) our house was bombed in the war. It's at the bottom end of Hilton Road so I'm hoping to see some photos of the area at the exhibition this weekend.
