Elsewhere an assembly hall with seating for 400 includes a theatre standard stage area that will allow the school to stage pupil and community performances in accordance with a desire to open facilities to the community outwith school hours.
Sports play a prominent role at Lornshill with a games hall, gymnasium, dance hall and fitness suite set to be joined by two grass pitches and 400m athletics track, enabling Lornshill to host county sporting events.
In design the school builds features several wings of accommodation which radiate out from a central social space. Flexible teaching spaces are woven into these routes in order to enhance qualities of space and light and “bring drama and life to areas which are normally bypassed”.
