Strathclyde University students put work On The Line
January 22 2010
First year students from Strathclyde University’s Architecture Department are to showcase their work at the Old Templeton carpet Factory on the weekend of January 23-24 from 10am – 4pm.Dubbed ‘On The Line’ the theme of the exhibition is in reference to the old practice followed at Templeton’s wherby anyone to hang their washing on lines out front.
Eschewing dirty linen for freshers the exhibition draws together 100 aspiring architecture students from 11 countries for a public baptism.
Justin Fenton of Page and Park architects said: “Some would say it was a little too early for these students to begin exhibiting their work but as Kathy Li, Year One Director of Studies says, ‘exposing students to the reality of organizing and presenting their work to external scrutiny is a really important part of the eventual transition from student to professional’”.
Staff from practices such as gm+ad and Gareth Hoskins are on hand to lend students support in their studies
