New Year interest in Princes Street from Primark and easyHotel
January 6 2010
Plans have been lodged for two separate developments on Edinburgh’s Princes Street by Primark and Parcotel. The work would see an easyHotel complete with bright orange signage and a “flagship” Primark store occupy two blocks at the western end of the thoroughfare.
Edinburgh City Council have been pursuing a “string of pearls” masterplan for Princes Street, employing selective redevelopment along its length in a program analogous to dentistry.
Whether or not these proposals live up to that monicker the council view them as fitting in with that wider plan and are confident in further interest in a street which has been hit hard by tram works.
