Construction commences on Glasgow’s National Indoor Sports Arena

Construction work is to commence this Wednesday on Glasgow’s National Indoor Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.Designed by 3DReid architects and built by Sir Robert McAlpine the facility will host badminton and cycling events at the upcoming 2014 Commonwealth Games.
In addition the headquarters of sportscotland will be relocated to the site and a number of community facilities will be on offer, including sports halls, five a side pitches, roller-skate park and gym.
Located in the east end of the city the facility will be in close proximity to Celtic Park, forming a sporting hub.
The facility is timetabled for completion in Spring 2012.
