Road clear for Aberdeen bypass
December 21 2009
The road is now clear for the stalled Aberdeen bypass to start up after approval was granted by Scottish ministers for the road link.Ministers and local politicians were convinced by industry claims that £295-395m would be well spent on easing traffic loads and boosting local businesses.
Opponents have however criticised the cost and environmental impact of the 28 mile route, which will require a £51m relocation of the International School of Aberdeen.
Work could commence on the link by 2011, providing rapid travel between towns around Aberdeen for the first time.
