New Blackley Home
March 11 2005
Manchester-based Richard Drinkwater Architects has won planning approval for a private dwelling in Blackley. The split-level house will sit within a bird sanctuary into the side of a greenfield site, overlooking a large pond. The brick and timber house is conceived as a series of volumes able to be opened up or easily divided internally depending on the climate and function. The high level living spaces sit above the lower level bedrooms and swimming pool. The main roof structure is derived from the notion of a bird’s wing constructed of exposed timber rafters with a slate roof.Read previous: Cooper Cromar Dumbarton plans
