Games tenders bring some Christmas cheer to contractors

Sub-contracts worth around £70m in relation to the National Indoor Sports Arena and Chris Hoy Velodrome are to go up for grabs this month and into the New Year.The bonanza comes as Glasgow gears up to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The money is included within the £116.3m contract, won by Sir Robert McAlpine, to build the facilities.
Glasgow City Counl are keen for as much work as possible to go the way of local firms and have been encouraging participation by establishing an online “business portal” with prospective bidders warned, “you have to be in it to win it”.
