Michael Laird develop Falkirk masterplan
December 11 2009
Michael Laird Architects have been appointed as masterplanners for the Tamfourhill district of Falkirk.Laird are seeking to capitalise on assets in the area, including the Falkirk Wheel, Antonine Wall and Forth & Clyde canal, to stimulate the local economy.
A mix of uses will be provided including housing, offices and leisure to both increase tourist draw and promote a self sufficient community.
Centrepiece of the scheme will be “The Hub”, an area of live/work units, a hotel, retail and leisure accommodation alongside a new canalside marina.
It is a major undertaking for the practice on a challenging site still scarred by heavy industry.
