Winstanley wins with Deepstone

Awards season continues to throw up new winners with Simon Winstanley Architects the latest practice to find cause to celebrate after their Deepstone project landed an award at the Saltire Housing Awards.Coincidentally also a convener of the Saltire Housing Awards (Winstanley absented himself from the panels discussions as necessary) the architect went on to receive the accolade for his bespoke, low energy home at Lingwood.
Occupying a former quarry in a national scenic area, linear accommodation straddles a terrace offering panoramic views of the Solway Firth.
Conceived as a glazed pavilion sitting atop a masonry base the home has been designed to maximise a tight footprint whilst responding to the geology of the area and enhancing the scenic environment.
