November 12 2009
A Memorial Garden at Tullis Street in Bridgeton has been unveiled by Clyde Gateway, the first project to be completed by the regeneration agency.Designed by architects Austin-Smith:Lord the Garden employs sculptural columns together with lighting and planting to open up entrances to a park.
It is intended that these columns reflect the sites history as a burial ground in the 17th and 18th centuries in addition to later dyeing and weaving industries.
Austin-Smith:Lord will now develop proposals to improve the nearby Calton Burial Ground on Abercromby Street.
