July 1 2006
Joint owners The Mills and Ivanhoe Cambridge have unveiled plans, drawn up by Cooper Cromar, to redevelop Glasgow’s St. Enoch Centre shopping complex in Glasgow. The proposal, which is expected to have an initial investment of approximately £100 million and create up to 1500 new jobs, has been lodged with the Glasgow City Council. The owners plan to expand St. Enoch Centre from 750,000 square feet of retail and leisure space to one million square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin this autumn and to be completed in late 2009.A dramatic new façade for the St. Enoch’s Square entrance is envisaged to give the Centre an enhanced visual impact, providing further impetus for the overall objective of breathing new life into the square.
