October 29 2009
Donald Trump has teed off with work on his £1bn golf estate in Aberdeenshire.Earthworks, fencing and the laying of maram grass are amongst the works being carried out in a bid to stabilise the shifting sand dunes around Trumps future course.
Local campaign group Tripping up Trump have vowed to take legal advice over the decision to allow work to proceed.
Trump has stressed that the courses will be open to the general public on a pay per play basis and the beachfront will remain fully accessible.
A network of cycle and pedestrian routes will connect the estate and nearby village of Balmedie.
A full site masterplan is scheduled to be submitted in early 2010, including Gareth Hoskins Architects designs for a tall landmark hotel.
