Aberdeen’s Union Square opens its doors

Aberdeen’s £275m Union Square development has been opened to the public,The mixed use city centre scheme has been designed by BDP for Hammerson and provides retail space, restaurants, cinema and a hotel beside the city’s main bus and rail stations.
Centrepiece of the main atrium is a piece of public art designed by local artists Gudrun Bombosch and Iain Gildea. The piece comprises 14 resin blocks encasing items chosen by members of the public to represent Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
Amongst the big name retailers setting up shop in the city are Apple and Zara.
