Archial win Civic Trust Award for Clocktower conversion
September 17 2009
Archial Architects have picked up a Civic Trust Award for their Clocktower conversion at City Quay, Dundee. The former barrel vaulted warehouse has been transformed into 12 flats after Unicorn Property Group invested £2.9m in the derelict grade A listed building.
Period features including cast iron columns and brick vaulted ceilings have been retained and the clock mechanism has been restored to full working order. Outward views to the Tay are maximised by penthouse roof terraces and copper clad balconies to the gable.
This marks the latest stage of Archials masterplan for the area which is intended to renew Dundee’s relationship with its river.
