John o' Groats masterplan unveiled
September 9 2009
Highlands and Islands Enterprise and GVA Grimley have unveiled masterplan options for the harbour area of John o’ Groats in order to introduce a raft of visitor attractions and shops to the northern outpost of mainland Britain.A car park will be relocated to a semi circular ring of asphalt around the village circumference to make way for the proposals which will create a new focal point for the village centred upon a new square.
The phased development would see “sensitively designed” accommodation from locally sourced natural materials around the John o’ Groats hotel and refurbishment of the Last House museum along with restoration of coastal paths.
