Edinburgh Council housing rises again

Detailed plans for the first new council housing scheme in Edinburgh since the early 1990’s are being drawn up by Smith Scott Mullan to a master plan by Broadway Malyan.Three tower blocks in the Gracemount district of the city are expected to be brought down on either Sunday 18th or 25th of October, clearing the way for the new build homes to be built next spring – subject to planning consent.
A mixed tenancy is planned for the 220 home estate, half of which will be sold at market rates with the remainder being designated as affordable housing - including 70 homes rented out directly by the Council.
In addition to Gracemount Edinburgh City Council have plans to build new homes in both North Sighthill and Pilton.
