Lighthouse board openly criticised by Mike Russell
September 1 2009
Scotland’s culture Minister, Mike Russell, has sidestepped recent implied criticism of the Lighthouse board (following the organisations recent collapse into administration) to state openly in a letter to the Herald that: “Responsibility lies - as it has to - with the board of the organisation”.The Scottish Government will now enter into discussion with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Glasgow City Council to: “Take forward the many good things that The Lighthouse has achieved and to ensure that it and its talented staff have a continuing influence on the quality of architecture and design in Scotland.”
Nick Barley appears to be an early casualty of this newly frugal fiscal environment. Urban Realm had an appointment with Barley cancelled at short notice with news that the Lighthouse’s Executive Director had been made redundant.
