Transport Scotland get busy
August 25 2009
Scotland’s motorway capital is to pour more concrete on its crown after a spate of road widening initiatives were okayed by Transport Scotland. These entail expanding to eight lanes the M73 between junctions one and two and the M74 between junctions two and five, continuing as a seven lane highway up to junction six to complement a remodelling of the Raith Interchange at Junction five.
Meanwhile the M8 will gain a lanes girth eastbound between Junction 10 and the Baillieston Interchange to tip the scales at seven lanes.
In total some £200m will be spent on this work, which does not include the underway M74 extension, M80 construction or A80 widening projects.
