Cutting castle hassle

Simpson and Brown have been appointed by Historic Scotland to prepare a guide for the restoration of castles and tower-houses.As co-author of the report S&B will outline best conservation practice to prospective owners, developers and architects. Simplifying the range of challenges faced with such large scale projects.
The venture is intended to stimulate investment in historic buildings, providing them with a fresh lease of life whilst outlining proper materials and construction technique.
Historic Scotland will release details of the first round of buildings suitable for restoration from their audit this month; the guide itself will be available from early 2010.
