Distaste for waste
July 22 2009
Pohkit Goh, Buro Happold Ltd and Battle McCarthy Ltd have been named as finalists in a competition to design out construction waste, organised by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) in association with the RIBA.Battle McCarthy chose a flexible distribution warehouse which could be readily put to new uses. By utilising off site construction, minimising materials and exercising efficient procurement the volume of construction waste being deposited at landfill could be demonstrably reduced.
Ideas generated in the entries will be incorporated into WRAP’s case study resources for clients, contractors and other designers to share best practice.
