Glasgow opens its doors
July 13 2009
The Doors Open Day line up for 2009 has been unveiled by the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and, as ever, a range of pursuits, interests, events and walks are being laid on this autumn to satiate every and any query in relation to Glasgow’s built heritage.Alongside perennial Rennie Mac and Thomson favourites are a slew of new buildings included for the first time that will be of particular note to architecture buffs.
Amongst them are Trongate 103, a major new arts resource for the Merchant City that has been fashioned from the shell of several existing warehouses by Elder & Cannon and St George’s Tron Church which has completed an 18 month makeover at the hands of CRGP.
In demand sculptor Andy Scott will also be available to talk over his highly successful brand of art-led regeneration from the Kelpies to the Big Man at his Maryhill studios.
